Lack of Disclosure 

Examples of this error: 


"I don't remember."

"That's none of your business. No comment."

"I didn't lie. I said I wasn't at work on Friday. I just didn't tell you I was fired for being late.


A. List 10 things you do not like to talk about and why. 

B. Then, make a plan to share these things with a counselor or sponsor or responsible sober friend. 

C. Write down the day, date, time and place you will do it. 

Lack of Receptivity

Examples of this error: 
- "What did you say? I wasn't listening." 
- "That's stupid. You don't know what you are talking about." 
- "I already know all about that." 

Think about one time this week when you thought seriously about what someone said to you. 
   1. What did they say? 
   2. How would you have responded in the past? 
   3. How did you respond this time? 
   4. What did you learn? 

Lack of Self-Criticism

Examples of this error: 
- "I didn't do anything wrong." 
- "There's nothing wrong with me." 
- "He's the one who started it." 

A. Pick one time this week when you took a good, hard look at yourself. 
   1. Briefly describe the situation. One half page. 
   2. What was my part in this? 
   3. What more should I be doing? 
   4. What should I do next time to avoid making the same mistake?
